This year’s National Summit was held at the QEII Centre, London and we were proud to be a sponsor alongside Alliance Leisure, Miha Bodytec, CBRE, Precor, DFC, P81, Elevate, Shapemaster, Get A Move On, Matrix and Wellworking, as well as many of our key partners and peers in the health & fitness industry.

The key note speeches delivered some truly inspirational speeches including from sports personality Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill and UK Active Chair, Lady Tanni Grey-Thomson.

Jessica spoke about the challenges of becoming a new mum and getting back to being an athlete. Now retired, she’s now dedicating her life to speaking and coaching developments which encourage physical activity across all ages, with particular support for new mums as she spoke about her new app for pre and post natal workouts, Jennis Fitness.

Tanni spoke about the role government can take to make the process of changing retail space use easier and a call for operators and developers to support this in order to progress. A theme furthered by retail expert Kate Hardcastle MBE, who discusses the point that we should be building ‘bridges not thrones’ in our high streets to ensure a ‘very human high street’. This was developed in the break out session ‘Regenerating the High Street through physical activity’, which concluded with the theme of co-location and co-creation; where developments need to both engage the inactive into physical activity and emphasise their surrounding community, to ensure the result goes beyond leisure facilities to channel inclusivity.

A day of real insight and discussion came to a close with a networking drinks reception, hosted by Suzanne and Ross from our sales & marketing team who were on hand to chat to attendees about our recent projects and offer suggestions to bring their new projects to life.

Thank you to UK Active for having us, and we look forward to next year’s events.
